How to restore Windows OS on an HP laptop – Hardware and Networking

Restore Windows on an HP laptop – Hardware and Networking

This guide will help to reinstall Windows Vista or XP on an HP laptop, not to have the backup cd.

The evolution of Microsoft operating systems  have witnessed a host of technical improvements, more or less discussed and appreciated by the general public. Unfortunately, there remain situations where we can not go back, generated by high-risk operations performed without the necessary experience, from simple technical failures or virus or whatever.
For example, using a laptop on which we installed the latest Windows Vista, we might run into an error like the following:

File: \ Boot \ BCD
Status: 0xc000000f
Info: “an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data”

This type of error is generally taken to mean that the boot sector is damaged or missing and can occur after an attempt to install another operating system does not succeed.

When we have decided that the only way is to reinstall Windows, restart the laptop to the initial conditions, there will rise more than a doubt.
Where do we find the installation cd? Why our laptop is not included, despite having paid for a copy of Windows (already installed)?
HP, like almost all other companies that produce portable, does not provide a copy of the operating system, but provides essentially 2 methods for the reinstallation of the system:

    1.  Use the CD / DVD Recovery (Recovery Disk), possibly created.
    2.  Restore the system to factory settings, using HP Recovery Manager.

Considering that 90% of Windows users shall not create a restore DVD, we will be more inclined to choose the second path.

Otherwise, it is recommend to take a look at the section Restoration of original condition by the computer discs for the restoration of official HP.
If we are ready to restore the factory settings, here’s how to proceed.

First it is good to remember to plug the power cord to our laptop, so that the battery goes off during the process of reinstalling.A few seconds after you press the power button on your laptop, repeatedly press the F11 key on the keyboard until you see the screen appear to restore. From the menu choose Advanced Options, followed by system recovery and then click OK to the final request.
The installation process will begin and will take approximately 25 minutes with a hard disk at 5400rpm. we can not stop the process, it will run an operating system to corrupt.

CAUTION: The procedure will erase all data not included with the purchase of the laptop. After the restore, you must reinstall all software such as antivirus, browsers, mail programs and download all updates to the system (could be many!) And all software and custom hardware.
When possible, we recommend that you make a backup of all data before  start.

Google as a currency converter – Utility

 Google is the quickest way to convert a sum in foreign currency, such as the dollar or the pound sterling, or vice versa…

Google is the search engine used on the web. Its algorithms are highly sophisticated, high-quality, but it is only thanks to them that enjoys the esteem of all (or almost) the internet. Through a myriad of tools and advanced features, Google accompanies users faster browsing, making life even easier for less experienced.

For example, to convert € 100 in U.S. dollars, type in the search box:

100 EUR USD
Google will announce the exact amount in dollars, which at present is 129.75 U.S. Dollars.

Another example is the conversion of € 100 in Sterling. Typing EUR 100 GBP will get the correct result in Sterling, as screenshots, updated through the exchange rate more recently. In each search string, can be alternately used the code of the currency, its symbol or its name, as pointed out by Alex.

Turning to an example, to simplify the discussion, we present the possible strings to perform the conversion between the Euro and Japanese Yen:

     * 5 Euro Japanese Yen
     * 5 EUR JPY
     * € 5 yen

As it is noted, the possible combinations are many and they all have the feature of being intuitive and easy to remember. The search strings are also case-insensitive, i.e. do not distinguish between uppercase and lowercase.
If we wish to have a complete list of codes and symbols associated with the currencies of the world, here are two links (in English):

Nautilus: Preview icons

Nautilus, the file browser that comes installed by default in the GNOME environment, supports preview files when placed a cursor on the file’s icons. In the case of the videos, it shows a random frame on the icon, the first lines of the document in a text file or the actual preview image if a graph.

For Ubuntu there is a package called OpenOffice Thumbnailer with which also activates the preview icons of documents in the office suite from Sun. Only need to download the DEB file (from Launchpad) and install it by double clicking it. Once the session is restarted GNOME icons for OpenOffice.org files should appear with a preview of each document.

Logos indicating the presence of “High Definition” Technology.

The logos that indicate the presence of  “High Definition”, a  Technical terminology that often puts us in some hype about the product. So sudden is the rapid evolution of technological systems. In fact, we are often familiar with many terms without knowing the full meaning, sometimes even the presence of a “technology” in new product that we are buying is considered as a fashion. If everyone is talking about high-definition television we tend to buy one which will have high-definition. But really for our own needs. It is necessary to search for the product which is more “fashionable” Or maybe it is better to understand a bit more of what the various “symbols or logos that are in products refer to? Well, then I suggest a small summary of the most important logos that are present in products.

What is HD? For HD, or High Definition, is the technology that gives better quality sound and high quality video, obviously the technology is often applied to other types of media player (audio-video) such as TVs, Blu – ray, etc.

 Deepen: For high definition video systems, this means the increase in image resolution, which is to increase the number of pixels (dots of light) on the surface of the video, so you can get sharper images and more fluid, the coupling of this technology with others of different nature, gives the colors more “alive” and real. A normal TV resolution “standard” usually has a resolution of 720 x 576 pixel screens with High Definition system having a resolution of 1280 x 720 can now reach up to 1920 x 1080, and undoubtedly much higher. The main difference, however, is not only by pixel but also from a different system of “writing” of the pixels themselves.

The marks that we can find in high-definition systems are: 720p, 1080i, 1080p (the “i” stands for interlaced and the “p” stands for “progressive”).

Here are the logos for high-definition:

 The logos of High Definition HD Ready:

This indicates that the contents are displayed in 720 lines, the TV equipped with this system accept HD video formats 720p and 1080i but can not display full-resolution content from the art of 1080p. A TV showing this symbol should be a widescreen and must have a component analog and HDMI connection.

HD Ready 1080p: This logo indicates that the system supports the HD-ready and also the most advanced format with 1920 x 1080 pixels. The presence of this technology include among others another very important factor, the image is displayed with a time of playing lower, thus facilitating the flow of the video.

HDTV or HD TV: This symbol indicates a television that, in addition to possessing the qualifications required by the HD Ready logo, is fitted with a digital terrestrial HDTV tuner (MPEG 4 – H264). This means that you can receive and display HD content without necessiriamente connect an external decoder. The abbreviation HDTV 1080p has the same meaning of the logo HDTV, also supports the full High Definition (Full HD) resolution with 1920 x 1080 and a 24p content (ie movies on Blu-ray Disc).
